I attended a Localhost Kathmandu Event organized by .NetHub Kathmandu. It was a Insightful & Inspiring Event. I was probably the youngest one among those attending the event, most were doing a job or had good experience in their field. I was just a normal High School passed student in there.

It finally went to lunch break, after 2 wonderful sessions on the event. The event, hosted at Maitri Holdings Ltd. had tasty food, good for events like those. After my lunch I randomly went to a guy who seemed like he was done with his lunch too & I tried networking with him. I just asked what he did, he introduced himself & I introduced myself too. We also shared LinkedIn Accounts. Hearing him being from Engineering background I had many questions to ask to him.

Well, As I had just finished my High School term, taking advice from a field specialist was very fruitful. He introduced me to the difference between Engineering, Development & Research: To start, Research is the thing done by experts mostly on their respective fields like Math, Physics & so on. As Engineers, our work is to mainly focus on the implementation & application side. Theories are provided by Researchers & we have to use our Engineering Mind on how to turn it into an actual Real-World problem & solve it. Our focus should be on reading research papers rather than trying to write them, which would help us in one way or another to think of a field & use-case for the research.

Even if we just go around in our surrounding, we would see a ton of problems & places to apply what we read. I guess its all about how to best solve a problem, it has to be efficient & effective. For Developers, Its about actually applying the solutions given by engineers & delivering it to the customers & the real world. To sum it up, Researchers make a theory, Engineers frame the problem and design solutions & Developers use those solutions & deliver them to the customers.

The event was very good overall, the networking session also felt worthwhile in this event. Hoping to learn more & attend many tech events as I go on with my journey
